Daily Prompt: Polite Company

This is for the Daily Prompt: Polite Company – January 15, 2013

“It’s never a good idea to discuss religion or politics with people you don’t really know.”
Agree or disagree?

In this I would have to disagree.  Now there was a time when I was very shy in general, let alone with anything “controversial”.  When I was younger I was more confused about what I thought than anything.  I didn’t feel confident enough to actually voice my opinion, whether anyone agreed with it or not.  It took many years and several life trials before I finally realized time was too short to sugar coat things.

Don’t get me wrong, it is never my intention to offend people or make them mad.  They are entitled to their opinion just like I am mine.  Besides, I like a good debate.  I like hearing what people think on these types of subjects.  Albeit, more often than not I hear the same view points, but every so often I’ll hear something new and intriguing.

I have also found that many of my view points aren’t accepted by, well, pretty much everyone.  Even in “touchy” subjects, my opinions tend be “touchy” with other people.  I love to keep an open mind and view things from several perspectives instead of what I know or am comfortable.  This also tends to rub people wrong, lol.  *shrugs*

Besides if I’m going to have a conversation with anyone I’m going to be honest and up front.  It’s their decision how they will react.  As long as my intention is not in malice than if they have an issue with what I say or who I am, that’s their problem, not mine.  May sound harsh, but that’s what life does, it teaches you.  Life has taught me that it’s too short to waste time with people who are going to bring me down.  Or aren’t comfortable with themselves enough to listen to another views, whether they accept them or not.

About Chyina

Well this is the part of websites/blogs that I don’t like, I have to admit. How is one suppose to describe oneself without coming across as egotistical or bragging? *sighs* I guess the best thing is to be truthful and simply short with what you have to say. Let the rest of the pages and entries speak for themselves. :) First, I like to think of myself as creative. I love art, music, writing, and a bunch of other things. Though we all are guilty of buying the massed produced, China imports, at the local ‘buy it all here’ stores. In the end I would much rather have a handcrafted item. There is simply something more unique about some that actually took thought and effort to get the end result.

  2. Ver’ nice! You know the old saying about opinions, yes? They’re like assholes… we all have them, and they all stink a little.

  3. Thanks for the pingback.
