Daily Dabbles: Chin Up

550966_342603655809816_1236647234_nFor the last two or three weeks it’s been raining off and on pretty much every single day.  This has caused some issues with the internet reception, flooding of the road and yard, power flickers, leaking caravan, and so on.  A lot of people don’t like the rain, for whatever reason.   It gets them down and makes them feel sluggish.  They usually stay inside until it’s over. So I thought it only appropriate to post this picture today.  Why?  Well, for all the so called bad things that come with storms, even in our personal life, there is one inescapable thing…  After the rain things are renewed, greener, and burst into a flurry of growth.  Let’s face it, water is life, storms are a part of that, and necessary for things to grow stronger.  So the next time your staring out your window at the rain, or crying over a personal deluge, just remember…  with comes a vital chance to burst forward and use it to grow forth and conquer.

552229_221169154682353_815011162_nIt may be an old saying but it’s still a good one; “Laughter is the best medicine.”  Science even backs it up.  So why not laugh, and laugh a lot.  The effects are potent, immediate, and contagious.  I love being around people that laugh, even if I don’t feel that they have a reason to laugh.  My cousin for instance, she is one of those people that laughs a lot.  She is also one of those people that when you hear her laugh you can not help but laugh yourself.  I’ve often tried not to laugh in fact when she laughed.  I usually only made it a few seconds before breaking into giggles myself.  Perhaps that’s why humour is such a powerful thing in relationships.  How many times have you heard someone say that one of the reasons they love someone is because they make them laugh?  Almost every relationship I know that is one of the first things listed.

Life is short, laugh it up before you no longer can.  You’ll be happier, healthier, and invite the warmth and love of others.

227680_432815126788668_601917219_nPersonally, I enjoy being alone.  It give you time to think without the thoughts, feelings, or opinions of others intruding.  It’s kind of like when you are working on something and it just pisses you off.  Sometimes it’s best to step back and do something else for a while.  The same can be said about us as humans.  You would probably be surprised at just how influential others can be on you.  Even when you don’t realize it.  There are moments when simply stepping back for those people or that situation can give you a much clearer picture of who you are and what you think.  Even if your distance is only temperary, it can do a world of good to be alone with your own thoughts and feelings.

487344_360790150657833_874253527_nThis is a hard one I have to admit, and I struggle with it all the time.  In my heart though, I realize it’s right.  When you boil it right down to the facts, no one can make you unhappy without your consent.  Shocker I know, and most of you will probably argue otherwise.  True that things happen to us that brings us down or upset us.  If you are honest with yourself (which isn’t always easy) every situation, no matter the source or outcome, can never hurt you.  Why?  When something “bad” happens what do you think would happen if you simply said, so be it, and didn’t let it get to you?  Life is a choice.  Happiness is a choice.  It may not be easy to choose, but it is still a choice.  Because in the end, you are the only one who can make your life what you want it.  You are the only one who can make yourself happy.  No one else can do it for you.  Therefore, no one else can ever take those things away from you unless you let them.

This may be a hard thing to take to heart for most of us.  I know I’ve had issues with it over the years, but that doesn’t make it any less true.  More often than not we end up sticking with someone for nothing more than a flimsy excuse:  “I’ve known them for years.”  or my personal favourite 😛  “They’re family.”  The truth is, it doesn’t matter what type of relationship you have with someone.  In the end if they are nothing but a drain on you than you need to cut them loose.  I’m not saying it’ll be easy, or that you won’t cry over it, but in the long run, you’ll be better off.  Take stock of those around you, family, friends.  How do they treat you?  Do they support you, even if they don’t agree with you?  Are they constantly telling you to what you’re doing wrong, even if what you’re doing isn’t wrong, just different?  Or do they try and help you in any way they can to make your dreams a reality?  Chances are you have at least one person who brings you down more often than lifts you up.  Maybe it’s time you told them to move on. That way you can move on with your life.  Instead of dreading what they may say or do next, to make you feel depressed, or two inches tall.  Don’t get trapped in an all too old and overly used excuse like “but they’re family”.  If they are truly your dear friends and family then you needn’t ever have to worry that they are dragging you down… right?  Seriously think about it.

I have to say that I don’t always follow this advice.  It’s difficult sometimes when life seem intent on beating you down or getting in your way.  All in all though, I agree with this completely.  When it comes right down to it you can only do your best each day.  Try not to think that you didn’t get everything done you may of wanted to.  As long as you’ve taken at least one step forward you have won the day.  Don’t let what more you could have done keep you up at night.  All that will do is make the next day more stressed.  Even though I haven’t always lived with this idea in my heart I do try now to keep it in mind.  I’ve been through too much to let the world, or myself, keep me from going where I want to go.  Or doing what I want to do.  As long as I’ve done something, anything, however small, each day to get a little closer to my dreams.  Then I can sleep well and be happy.

This right here sums up pretty much all my feelings on religion.  It also encompasses how I view myself.  I have always been one to question everything around me.  This has inevitably led me to be open to a lot of things.  There are so many wonderful things in this world.  Don’t limit yourself by placing yourself in a box.  Be open to who you are.  Don’t be afraid to love in all ways, not just one.  In all things balance is key.  See what the world has to offer and take from it the best it has to offer, in whatever form it presents itself.
